Are your Self Defense Courses about Learning Physical Techniques?
We teach many very simple and very effective techniques, however, it is essential to couple this with some essential theory. No technique is effective without the necessary mindset, therefore, we provide you with the information on such topics as
Are your Techniques easy to learn?
Yes, self defense must be simple to be effective, most people are simply not capable of carrying out complex or fine motor skills in a high stress situation, like that of an attack. All of the techniques we teach involve gross motor skills only, these are basic body movements that virtually all people are capable of performing.
Who can attend yourself Free Self Defense Courses?
These particular courses are intended for adults, both male and female. Check the details of each location as some facilities may be restricted to women only. If you have teenage or older children they may also accompany you. We do hold courses for small children that they are held separately, contact us for details.
Why are you offering Free Self Defense Courses?
The simple answer is because we want to. We realize that recent events have created a great deal of concern amongst the general public. We are simply doing our part to help. Please keep in mind that these courses will not be available indefinitely so we encourage you to register now whilst they are still available.
Do I need to be physically fit to attend your Free Self Defense Courses?
You do not require a high level of fitness. However, you should certainly notify us with any concerns. If there are any parts of the self defense calls that you're not comfortable in participating, then you are more than welcome to watch. As with any physical activity it is always recommended that you consult your Physician before joining in.
How often do you run your Free Self Defense Courses in Calgary?
At a minimum, we run a course in each quadrant of the city each month. We also run courses at many other locations throughout Alberta.
Do I have to start with Module #1 ?
In a perfect world it would be best to start with Module #1, however, we run a shortened version at the beginning of each module, so it is possible to start with any module and simply attend whichever ones suit your schedule.
What other Self Defense Courses do you run in Calgary?
We run a Self Defense course that combines several modules into one session as many people do not want to spread them out over several modules. We also run many corporate programs for development training and lunch and learn sessions. We have a regular group of adults who meet two or three times per week, a Junior Program (8-11 years) and a Kids program (5-8 years).
What clothing should I wear?
You should wear whatever you consider to be comfortable clothing. Most people wear track suit pants, T. shirt and training shoes. It would be sensible to wear whatever clothing you wear most of the time.
You do not require any special equipment
Can I bring my friends or family along with me?
You certainly can, however, please insure that they register their details at our site.
